The baritone guitar

This is the first guitar which I made on request, having a string length of more than 73 cms. Normally, the guitar is tuned from A to A or from B to B with the same intervals as an ordinary guitar. This guitar which you can see on this website has a Nashville tuning and as such, the middle strings have a higher pitch.

Using a cutaway to play the high tones easier seems a practical solution but from an acoustic point of view, it is not right to make the instrument a-symmetrical. The strings are adapted to the length and pitch. For this reason the highest tones have another timbre as on your ordinary guitar. Preferably, I make a future baritone guitar without cutaway.

In contrast with a classic guitar, I make the neck of Honduras or Sipo mahogany. The neckpin allows counterpressure of the strings which adds to the pleasure of playing. Adjustments must be done each time after changing the strings.

Price: 2200 Euros.
